Codes of Conduct


Objective: To provide guidelines outlining responsibilities and behaviour for all members of BSC and their parents, in order for the club to run smoothly.

All Club Officers, Teachers and Volunteers must:-

  1. Consider the well-being and safety of swimmers before the development of performance.
  2. Develop an appropriate working relationship with swimmers based on mutual trust and respect.
  3. Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part.
  4. Promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play).
  5. Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance.
  6. Follow all guidelines laid down by the ASA and the club.
  7. Hold the appropriate valid qualifications and insurance cover.
  8. Never exert influence over performers to obtain personal reward or benefit.
  9. Never condone the use of prohibited substances, rough play or violation of club rules.

Code of Conduct for parents:-

  1. Encourage your child to follow club rules.
  2. Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
  3. Help your child to understand good performance, not just results, and to enjoy their sport.
  4. Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the performances of all.
  5. Never force your child to take part.
  6. Never belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.
  7. Accept all official’s judgements.
  8. Use correct and proper language at all times.

Code of Conduct for swimmers:-

  1. Accept and abide by the rules of the club at all times.
  2. Behave in a proper and socially acceptable manner at all times.
  3. Use correct and proper language at all times.
  4. Never argue with officials and accept their judgements with good grace.
  5. Always promote fair play.
  6. At all times show respect and kindness to other swimmers, teachers and club officials.
