Codes of Conduct
FOR SWIMMERS, PARENTS, CLUB OFFICERS, TEACHERS AND VOLUNTEERS
Objective: To provide guidelines outlining responsibilities and behaviour for all members of BSC and their parents, in order for the club to run smoothly.
All Club Officers, Teachers and Volunteers must:-
- Consider the well-being and safety of swimmers before the development of performance.
- Develop an appropriate working relationship with swimmers based on mutual trust and respect.
- Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part.
- Promote the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play).
- Display consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance.
- Follow all guidelines laid down by the ASA and the club.
- Hold the appropriate valid qualifications and insurance cover.
- Never exert influence over performers to obtain personal reward or benefit.
- Never condone the use of prohibited substances, rough play or violation of club rules.
Code of Conduct for parents:-
- Encourage your child to follow club rules.
- Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
- Help your child to understand good performance, not just results, and to enjoy their sport.
- Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding the performances of all.
- Never force your child to take part.
- Never belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.
- Accept all official’s judgements.
- Use correct and proper language at all times.
Code of Conduct for swimmers:-
- Accept and abide by the rules of the club at all times.
- Behave in a proper and socially acceptable manner at all times.
- Use correct and proper language at all times.
- Never argue with officials and accept their judgements with good grace.
- Always promote fair play.
- At all times show respect and kindness to other swimmers, teachers and club officials.
